Pryor Cashman Partner Bradley A. Kaufman, Co-Chair of the Leasing Practice and a member of the Real Estate Group, was recently interviewed by Practical Law about his extensive career in commercial real estate leasing, the challenges clients face in today’s market, and his perspective on the evolving legal landscape. Kaufman, who has been with Pryor Cashman since 1988, shared his insights into the current state of the real estate market and offered valuable advice for junior attorneys interested in real estate law.

In “Pryor Cashman’s Kaufman Reflects on Commercial Real Estate Trends and Challenges,” Bradley discussed key developments in the market and the legal strategies he employs to help clients navigate them:

"The commercial real estate leasing market is constantly changing and very quickly. Prices can fluctuate wildly, and I have to stay on top of the market to advise clients well."

One of Kaufman’s recent standout achievements was a 220,000 square-foot lease in a prestigious Park Avenue office building in 2024, which he negotiated on behalf of a major financial services firm tenant.

“It was one of the largest office leasing transactions in NYC in 2024, and it showed that big chunks of office space are still valuable and Park Avenue continues to be a top location.”

When asked about the best career advice he’s received, Kaufman was quick to respond:

“Get into the commercial real estate leasing field. Look around — every one of those windows in a commercial area that you see has an office behind it and is leased by or to somebody.”
