2024 AILA Annual Conference
Pryor Cashman Partner Avram Morell, a member of the firm’s Immigration Group, spoke at the 2024 American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) Annual Conference.
Avi was part of the “Anti-discrimination Issues in Sponsorship Decisions, ITAR, and Verification (I-9s and E-Verify)” panel. During this session, panelists discussed avoiding discrimination in ITAR-related contexts, handling expiring work authorization and immigration-related sponsorship issues, enforcing honesty policies, setting SSN requirements, and reviewing recent cases concerning alienage and citizenship.
Avi also co-authored an article in Immigration Practice Pointers: Tips for Handling Complex Cases, the course handbook for the AILA event. The article, "How to Advise Employers After the Facebook Settlement: PERM Recruitment and Risk for IER Discrimination Liability," was co-written with Bruce Buchanan, Marketa Lindt, and Mary Pivec.
