Basic Immigration Law 2024: Business, Family, Naturalization, and Related Areas
Pryor Cashman Partner Avram Morell, a member of the firm’s Immigration Group, spoke at PLI’s Basic Immigration Law 2024: Business, Family, Naturalization, and Related Areas event.
Avi was part of the “Nonimmigrant (Temporary) Visa Categories Overview” session, which provided an introduction to nonimmigrant visa categories. During the session, participants learned how to:
- Identify important nonimmigrant visa categories
- Assess strategies in selecting and obtaining a nonimmigrant visa, including new risk factors
- Evaluate B visas for tourists and business visitors, the visa waiver program, and the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA)
- Understand the basics of F and J categories for foreign students and exchange visitors
- Ascertain the basic contours of the H-1B, E, L, O, P and TN work visa categories
- Differentiate consular processing from change of status
Avi also is the co-author of a chapter in Basic Immigration Law 2024: Business, Family, Naturalization, and Related Areas, the course handbook for the event. Avi and Lepore Taylor Fox LLP Partner Rosanna M. Fox co-wrote the “Overview of Key Concepts in Nonimmigrant Visa Practice” chapter, which focuses on “the distinction between three key concepts: visa foil, visa status, and visa classification.”
